HOW TO CONTROL CRICKETS
Crickets can be difficult to control because there are usually many more of them than you will ever see - when you see one, you have definitely not seen them all! These shy, nocturnal insects may be heard but not seen for a frustratingly long time while you try to find their hiding places in the home or building structure to get rid of them. They can also be difficult to poison due to their dietary preferences, elusive nature and lack of social structure.
Whether you are able to distinguish crickets from grasshoppers or other similar insects, it is no matter. They have to go! Do not fret if you are unsure if the crickets are around outside or inside, if you can hear many of them at one time, you may have an infestation. They are establishing their colony when their numbers are small, and their only intention is to make themselves comfortable around your home and outside areas. Acting when you first suspect an infestation is the best time to prevent them from setting up shop. It is never to late to prevent a pest from getting comfortable in and around your property.
As with all pests, the first step to controlling a cricket population is in the prevention of allowing them to establish themselves near the home in the first place. Removing access to easy food and water sources and sealing cracks and gaps in a home’s foundation and other entry points is a good first step. However, once a cricket infestation has begun, it may be time to call for professional backup to help remove the problem fast.
